Brazil opens 56,000 jobs with a formal contract in March

Caged data reveals the best month of March in five years.On the other hand, rhythm of job creation lost its breath from February to March

Service sector hired the most in MarchWagner Pires / Future Press / Folhapress - 24.03.2018Brazil registered 56,151 new jobs in Brazil, with a formal contract, in March.The data were released this Friday (20) by the Ministry of Labor.According to the Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed), 1,340,153 workers were formally hired last month and laid off another 1,284,002, resulting in a positive balance of 56,151 jobs.This amount is 0.15% higher than the February result.Last month's result was the best for a March since 2013, when 112,450 vacancies were opened.In comparison, in March 2017 there were 63,624 vacancies.On the other hand, the labor market may be losing steam amid lower growth this early in the year.In January and February, for example, 77,822 and 61,188 new formal jobs were opened.Despite Caged's positive numbers for the year, the Brazilian labor market has shown signs of still recovery, with high unemployment and more than 13 million people without ...
